Are you taking too much biotin?

Biotin has long been associated with promoting hair growth in the wellness community. Even the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommended biotin for hair and nail growth first years. More recently however, the AAD has reversed their recommendations citing that excess biotin can interfere with important cardiac and thyroid testing.

In addition, studies show that biotin is found in many foods and the incidence of biotin deficiency affecting hair is extremely rare.

Some over-the-counter formulations have 8000 times I recommend a daily allowance of 300 µg a day!

Dr. James hair restoration in Prp recommends:

  1. Read the label of your vitamin/supplement
  2. Ask your primary care doctor if you need extra biotin
  3. If you’re losing your hair, there is another reason. Come see us to get to the root of the problem.
